Megan Hymanyk, Founder, Copywriter, & Brand Strategist at Scribe Copywriting.
How has your journey unfolded since you initially began your career in real estate?
My journey in real estate began with a role on a top-performing industrial brokerage team, which provided a solid foundation in the industry. From there, I transitioned into development sales and marketing, initially focusing on industrial markets before shifting my focus to multi-family residential project launches.
In early 2022, I took a significant leap by leaving a project management role at a large real estate marketing agency to launch my own company, Scribe Copywriting, which specializes in brand strategy and copywriting for new developments. With Scribe, my goal was to combine my industry expertise with my passion for storytelling and branding.
Can you share a pivotal moment or experience in your career that significantly influenced your professional trajectory?
Branching off to launch Scribe was the most pivotal moment in my career. Until then, I had worked for larger organizations as part of a team, so launching my own business marked a significant shift in direction. It was intimidating, but I felt there was an opportunity for new creative voices to make a mark in the industry.
As a member of CREW Vancouver, what aspects of the organization resonate most with you, and how has it impacted your professional development?
I have been fascinated with women’s stories for as long as I can remember, and I am a huge believer in encouraging women to advocate for themselves to accomplish great things. CREW’s mission aligns perfectly with this passion, making the organization a natural fit for me.
CREW has an incredible member base, and the connections, mentorship, and support that I received through the organization have been instrumental in my career. Many of the women in this organization acted as a sounding as I was launching Scribe, which was incredibly helpful.
What advice would you give to other aspiring women in real estate who are looking to establish themselves professionally and make meaningful connections within the industry?
Network as much as possible and connect with others in the industry, especially peers who share your aspirations to grow. Treat people with respect and value their time and energy. And don’t forget to take care of your mental and physical well-being.
Beyond your professional endeavors, what activities or passions outside the office keep you energized and fulfilled, and how do they complement your career in real estate?
In the last two years, I've become increasingly fascinated by the intersection of art and entrepreneurship. I am a big believer in the power of community and local business, which inspired me to launch the SPACES blog last year, where I highlight local entrepreneurs and their stories. It has been incredibly fulfilling to connect with my community and support the creative endeavors happening around me.
