Join CREW Vancouver's Future of Development Luncheon to learn from our development leaders how they are developing for the future. This discussion will focus on partnerships with non-profits, how to build communities and future-proof buildings and explore how companies are incorporating ESG into their developments.

Moderated By Ankita Khurana

Ankita has over 15 years of experience in real estate focused investment analysis, asset management, corporate finance and development advisory across all asset classes. Her expertise includes leading the development of cashflow and detailed pro forma models related to land use development scenarios, asset management plans and acquisition/divesture strategies. She also supports Colliers’ development management group via ongoing asset management and due diligence of projects, including liaising with lenders and civic planning staff. Ankita holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and an MBA degree.

Carla Guerrera - Founder & CEO, Purpose Drive Development
As a globally recognized real estate development professional, Carla combines the fields of real estate development and urban planning. Carla has delivered over $1 B of complex, mixed-use real estate development across Canada's top markets over the past 20 years. Notable projects include leading the West Don Lands waterfront revitalization on Toronto’s waterfront, one of the world’s most advanced waterfront revitalization initiatives. Carla has been awarded the prestigious Urban Land Institutes Top 40 Under 40 Global Land Use Professionals Award, as well as Business in Vancouver's Top 40 Under 40 Award. Carla is the Founder and CEO of Purpose Driven Development and Planning, a company which brings a proven approach to unlocking successful development in our complex urban environments for developers, public sector and First Nations clients to create communities where we can all thrive.

Carla was recently appointed as a Board Member to the Thames Estuary Growth Board helping to lead the revitalization of the world-famous Thames River and the largest growth opportunity in the UK. Locally she also serves on the British Columbia Pavilion Corporation. Carla is an international thought leader and speaker on innovative approaches to development and city building.

Benn Duffell – Vice President Development, Rize Alliance Properties
An architect by training, Benn Duffell has 20 years of experience in architecture and development leading complex mixed-use and masterplan projects throughout the Lower Mainland.  Benn leads the Rize Development team, responsible for the Rize portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.  Prior to joining Rize, Benn worked in senior leadership roles with some of the leading architecture and development firms in Vancouver.

Tanja Milosevic – Associate Vice President Environmental, Social and Governance, Grosvenor
Tanja oversees, drives, and evolves sustainability at Grosvenor and works to enhance the firm’s existing focus on delivering social benefit in North America. She is leading the Company in its pursuit of achieving the World Green Building Council’s (WGBC) 2030 net zero carbon initiative. Additionally, Tanja runs Grosvenor’s Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) reporting in North America and steers the employee-led Equity, Diversity & Inclusion committee.

Tanja joined Grosvenor in 2013 and previously held the position of Director of Community and Customer Engagement, where she provided strategic direction and oversight for community engagement and customer service initiatives for developments across North America. 

She is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), Urban Development Institute (UDI), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Canada Green Building Council, US Green Building Council, and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC). She is also a participant in ULI’s Greenprint Performance Committee and REALPAC’s ESG Committee.

Tanja studied Urban Land Economics at the University of British Columbia, Dialogue and Civic Engagement at Simon Fraser University, and Business Sustainability Management at the Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge.
