CREW Vancouver is excited to host Dr. Maja Jovanovic (Professor Maja) as our keynote speaker at an energizing and inspiring luncheon that will explore the connection between confidence and communication style.
Do you ever find yourself apologizing for minor issues? Do you have difficulty accepting praise or compliments? Do you ever downplay or minimize your accomplishments?
If this sounds familiar, join CREW Vancouver as we explore how confidence is chipped away through apologies and deflection of praise. Prof. Maja’s keynote presentation, Forget the Apologies & Lead with Confidence, will provide actionable science-backed strategies on how we can grow our confidence and strengthen our mindset.
Prof. Maja is an acclaimed sociologist, author, and confidence-researcher. Her TEDx Talk “How Apologies Kill Our Confidence” was featured by TED IDEAS in their 2019 article “Do You Say ‘Sorry’ too Much?” She is also a regular guest expert on CTV’s The Social.
To deal with the lack of confidence and incessant apologies she witnessed daily, Prof. Maja authored the book “Hey Ladies, Stop Apologizing…and other career mistakes women make”. She also speaks on topics such as: confidence, perfectionism, people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, time-management, and body positivity.
Prof. Maja holds a PhD in sociology from McMaster University where she also teaches. Her new study “Women’s Confidence and Communication Styles” is a global study exploring what strengthens and weakens women’s confidence.
